JAMESTOWN – Jamestown Police are crediting traffic surveillance cameras in helping to arrest two men on weapon possession charges.

According to a media release, officers were called to the area of 708 E. 2 St. on Nov. 25 at about 2:30 p.m. on a report of suspicious behavior of two men sitting in a vehicle at the location. When officers arrived at the scene, they allegedly observed the two exit the vehicle in an attempt to elude the officers.

One subject – who was identified as 32 year-old Christopher L. Jones – allegedly ran from the scene and had to be pursued on foot but was captured a short distance away. The other subject, 29 year-old Terrance Hubbard, was located near the vehicle at the location. Inside the vehicle officers located a loaded 9mm pistol. Both subjects were charged with criminal possession of a weapon – 2nd Degree. Police did  not identify the city of residence for either man.

According to Jamestown Police Captain Robert Samuelson, the officers who responded to the call were assisted by the Public Safety Camera system that is located in and around various locations throughout the city of Jamestown. A Police officer positioned at the Jamestown Police Department was able to view and observe the suspects and the vehicle on the system prior to officers arriving and was able to observe and report important information to the responding officers.
