Jamestown Man Charged After Assaulting Cab Driver, Stealing Taxi

May 13, 2016 By WRFA Leave a Comment

Jamestown Police BadgeJAMESTOWN – A Jamestown man is in the city jail awaiting arraignment after allegedly assaulting a female taxi driver and then stealing her cab early Friday morning.

Jamestown Police were called to the intersection of Maple St. and Everett Ave. just before 2 a.m. Friday for a report of a man assaulting a taxi driver. Police say the taxi driver alleges she was grabbed by the hair and the suspect then shoved her into the seat and held her down while she was driving the vehicle. She was able to flee the vehicle and the suspect then made off with the taxi.

Officers eventually spotted the vehicle and stopped it on Camp St. near the city line. The suspect, identified as 40 year-old Victor Rosa Jr., was found to be intoxicated and also had a revoked driver’s license.

Rosa faces charges related to robbery, reckless endangerment, unlawful imprisonment, criminal obstruction of breathing, and DWI.
