JAMESTOWN – The Jamestown School District says the school superintendent is investigating video of a recent bullying incident that was shared on social media and which involves a group of male youths harassing another student.
In a statement shared on its official Facebook page late Thursday night, the school district said that it has been made aware of videos circulating on social media possibly attributed to Jamestown students and that the videos have been forwarded to Superintendent Bret Apthorpe to investigate and take appropriate action.
The videos, which can still be found on social media, show a small group of youths harassing and name-calling another male student, with one them forcing him to do pushups and placing his foot on his back, eventually standing on top of him. It also shows the same student trying to remove the victims t-shirt and ordering him to take it off as the victim pleads with them to stop and is visibly upset. It appears the incident took place at night after school hours and on a street off of school property.
In its statement, Jamestown Public Schools says the district takes the safety and well being of its students very seriously – whether the event occurs on school property or off.
The district says it will continue to investigate the matter to make sure appropriate action is taken.
