A soldier from Chautauqua County has been killed while serving in Afghanistan from a roadside bombing. The Jamestown Post-Journal is reporting this morning that Army Sgt. Jonathan “Nathan” Gollnitz of Fredonia was killed in a roadside attack that also killed another soldier. Gollnitz was 28 years old.
According to the article, he was a graduate of Levant Christian School and joined the Navy after high school, then later joined the Army. Gollnitz is survived by his son, both parents, and five younger brothers. Funeral arrangements will be announced in the coming days.
