JAMESTOWN – Voters in Jamestown have given the Jamestown School Board permission to move forward with selling the district’s Warehouse on Crescent Street.
A special vote to allow the sale to move forward took place on Monday, with 179 voting for the sale, and 16 voting against it.
At a public auction held on October 14, the district received one bid to buy the Crescent Street Warehouse for one dollar.
School officials say the Warehouse has been unused for over 10 years and the building would have required extensive renovations to be useable. The alternative to selling the property was to demolish the building, which could have cost the district as much as $500,000.
