JAMESTOWN – The Jamestown City Council will be holding a special meeting tonight at 7:30 p.m. to act on one item. The council will act on a resolution authorizing the mayor to enter into an agreement with G.L. Olson of Dewittville to construct a new Salt Barn for $236,300. The council is holding the special voting session to act on the resolution so that work can begin immediately on the project, which was initially approved last month by the city planning commission and later by the city council. However, the contractor that initially made the lowest bid is now pulling out of the project. As a result, this resolution clears the way for the hiring of the G. L. Olson to build the facility.
Prior to the voting session, the council’s committees will meeting, starting with the Housing Committee, which will have its first meeting since January. The panel will meet at 6:45 p.m. tonight and review the city’s Complete Streets Policy.
The council’s finance committee has a full agenda for its meeting, with several routine resolutions being reviewed. The Public Safety and Public Works committees will also meet prior to the special voting session. All three of those committee meetings will begin at 7 p.m. All meetings will take place on the fourth floor of city hall and are open to the public.
