JAMESTOWN – The Jamestown City Council Monday night approved two resolutions involving Jamestown Community College – one of which involved selling a piece of property in Jamestown and the other involves a capital improvement project to JCC’s cafeteria.
JCC vice president of administration John Garfoot says the college made the decision to sell the president’s house, which is located at 636 Winsor St., when former JCC President Greg Dicinque announced he would be retiring. “one of the SUNY Systems’ administration rules is that we come to our three – the city of Jamestown, Chautauqua County and Cattaraugus County – for permission to dispose of our property and to provide an asking price below which we will not go.”
Garfoot said JCC officials expect to get between $180,000 to $200,000 for the property.
As for the cafeteria renovation project, the total cost would be $1,540,000. The food service area was last renovated in 1985. Since then, some of the equipment in the facility has become worn out. In addition, JCC has seen student enrollment increase along with staff.
