MAYVILLE – The Davide Coggins double murder trial will continue today in Chautauqua County Court after taking Monday off.
Coggins is one of the four men from Elmira arrested in connection to the murder of Frewsburg couple Gordon and Joyce Skinner in April 2013.
The prosecution is trying to prove he was the one who planned the crime and convinced three others to also participate. The three others have all reached plea deals with the DA’s office. The defense is arguing there is no evidence that puts the defendant at the scene of the crime and that the co-defendants are simply testifying against Coggins in exchange for lighter sentences.
Today marks the eighth day of testimony in the trial. It resumes this morning at 9 a.m.
