Chautauqua County SheriffMAYVILLE – The Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office is reporting that the body of a Conewango Valley Man who went missing in Chautauqua Lake while Tubing last weekend has been located.

The Chautauqua County Sheriff’s office says the body of 48-year old Ricky Whipple was located Thursday morning at about 5:45 a.m. about 200 yards from the shore, to the north of Chautauqua Institution. He was located by members of the Chautauqua Fire Service.

Whipple was tubing early Saturday night with friends in an area of the Lake south of Mayville. Witnesses say he fell off the tube and went into the water but did not resurface. He was not wearing a life vest.

Search crews began searching the lake for Whipple Saturday night and continued each day since.
