Falconer Man Charged After Vehicle Strikes Amish Buggy, Leaves Accident Scene

August 26, 2019 By WRFA Radio Leave a Comment

POLAND – A Falconer man has been arrested on several charges including drunk driving and leaving the scene of an accident after the vehicle he was driving allegedly struck an Amish buggy late Sunday night in the town of Poland.

The Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office says deputies were called to a report of a vehicle hitting a buggy on Quaint Road around 10:30 Sunday night. On arrival deputies learned the vehicle had left the scene. It was later located in a ditch on Stahlman Road and the operator of the vehicle was identified as 34-year-old Nicholas Taylor.

A subsequent investigation found that Taylor was driving southbound on Quaint Road when he crossed over into the opposite lane and struck a northbound Amish buggy. A 16-year-old occupant of the Amish buggy sustained minor injuries.

Taylor was arrested on multiple charges including aggravated DWI with a blood alcohol content of .18 percent or greater, leaving the scene of a personal injury accident, and unlicensed operation. He will appear in Town of Poland Court at a later date to answer to his charges.
