Jamestown Public Market Seeks Vendors, Meeting Set for April 23

April 20, 2018 By WRFA Radio Leave a Comment

JAMESTOWN – The Jamestown Renaissance Corporation is hosting a pre-season meeting for all current and interested vendors for the 2018 Jamestown Public Market season.

Those seeking to offer their locally grown or raised products, artisan crafts, or community organizations interested in highlighting their services are encouraged to attend the meeting, scheduled for Monday, April 23 at 10 a.m. at the Jamestown Renaissance Corporation, 301 E 2nd Street.

Past and current vendors have offered locally-raised meat products, maple syrup products, home-baked goods, value-added products, crafts, homemade bath products, eggs, and dairy products. Prepared food vendors, nurseries and more are also welcome as prospective vendors.

Public Market Manager Linnea Carlson is looking forward to the 2018 season.

“I am very excited to meet with our returning vendors, as well as those individuals considering joining our market. We have many new activities and events planned and look forward to creating a vibrant community space each Saturday,” Carlson said.

Funding provided through the USDA Farmers’ Market Promotion Program will assist the Public Market in increasing promotion, as well as expand programming for the community. This includes the start of a weekly ‘Sprouts Club’, sponsored by Jamestown Pediatric Associates, which will center on nutrition education activities and games for children ages 2-12. In addition, the market will hire a variety of musicians and entertainers who wish to perform for the community. All performers are encouraged to apply.

Community organizations interested in being a highlighted community group at the market are also encouraged to contact the Public Market manager. These groups will have the opportunity to share their services and programs with the Jamestown community and are encouraged to bring interactive and educational displays.

At the preseason meeting, returning and prospective vendors will discuss planned events and new ideas for the 2018 season. Applications and market rules/regulations will be available and questions regarding the market season and operation will be answered. Feedback from all current and prospective vendors is encouraged to make the Jamestown Public Market’s 2018 season the best yet.

The Public Market continues to accept EBT, WIC and Senior FMPP coupons, and intends to again participate in the Field and Fork Network’s Double Up Food Bucks program, which allows SNAP customers the opportunity to double their SNAP dollars towards the purchase of fresh produce.

The Jamestown Public Market will be held each Saturday from June 9 to Oct. 27, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Cherry St, between Second and Third Streets in Downtown Jamestown.

Those unable to attend the pre-season meeting who are interested in vending at the public market can contact Public Market Manager, Linnea Carlson at 716-489-3497 or linnea@jamestownrenaissance.org.
