MAYVILLE – A Mayville woman is in the county jail without bail on charges related to arson.
Chautauqua County Sheriff Deputies were called to a location on South Erie St. in Mayville just before 9pm Saturday night for a report of a woman attempting to set an apartment building on fire. Following an investigation, police arrested 40 year-old Brenda Harper of Mayville. Police say Harper allegedly attempted to light a multiple unit apartment house on fire while occupants were inside. She was arrested for second degree attempted arson and first degree reckless endangerment.
Harper was later arraigned in the Town of Chautauqua Court where she was then sent to the Chautauqua County Jail with no bail.
