MORNING NEWS: Child Dies from Injuries Sustained During Feb. 20 Accident on I-86

February 25, 2013 By WRFA Radio Leave a Comment

MINA – A child who was a passenger in a vehicle involved in an overnight accident last week on I-86 in the Town of Mina has died from his injuries. The Chautauqua County Sheriff’s office is reporting that one year-old Achilles McBride of Westfield, Pa. died Saturday in a Pittsburgh hospital.

Achilles was a passenger in a truck driven by his father, 39 year old Mathew McBride.

Sheriff Deputies say McBride was traveling eastbound around midnight on Feb. 20 when his vehicle struck a parked tractor trailer that was parked along side the eastbound land of I-86 due to white out snow conditions.

As a result of the crash, McBride, along with Achilles and 28 year-old Esmerelda McBride, were all sent to Hamot Medical Center in Erie as a result of the crash.  Both Achilles and Esmerelda were later taken to Pittsburgh for further treatment. The drive of the semi, 52 year old Dale Legg of Medina, Ohio, was not injured.
