MORNING NEWS: Hamburg Man Rescued from Lake Erie After Falling out of Kayak

January 14, 2013 By WRFA Radio Leave a Comment

SILVER CREEK – The Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office had to take quick action over the weekend to respond to a rescue call on Lake Erie. The Sheriff’s Office says it received a call shortly after 9:30 a.m. Saturday of a male in the water in Hanford Bay in the Town of Hanover.

Sheriff’s Deputies along with the Chautauqua County Water Emergency Team, Silver Creek Police, Sunset Bay Fire and Silver Creek Fire responded to the scene, were a male was observed a distance from shore in the water. A jet ski from the Sunset Bay Fire Department was launched and made contact with the man, later identified as 46 year old Raymond Adamczyk of Hamburg, NY. Adamczyk was allegedly hunting duck with the use of a kayak, when the kayak overturned approximately 500 yards from shore. He was brought ashore and transported to Lakeshore Hospital by Alstar Ambulance. Deputies say Adamcyk was wearing a coast guard approved life vest.
