State Police Release Identity of Body Found in Portland, Being Treated as ‘Suspicious’

PORTLAND – New York State Police have identified the body that was found along Route 20 in the town of Portland this past weekend and say they are treating the death as “suspicious.”

Police say the body belonged to 47-year-old Brian Heyden, a homeless man known to travel from his encampment just west of Brocton to Fredonia on a daily basis. 

Officials did not release a cause of death but said it was “suspicious.”
