Trial of Sherman Man Accused of Manslaughter in Billquist Death Scheduled for August 2018

Thomas Jadlowski

MAYVILLE – The trial date has been set for the Sherman man accused of fatally shooting his neighbor during a hunting accident last November.

According to the Post-Journal, the trial for 34 year-old Thomas Jadlowski will begin with Jury selection on Aug. 7 in Chautauqua County Court.  The date was announced during a hearing on Friday.

Jadlowski is accused of shooting his neighbor Rosemary Billquist while she was walking her dogs in a field adjacent to her home. The incident took place just before 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 22 when Jadlowski reportedly thought he saw a deer and shot at it, and instead struck Billquist. He reportedly rushed to aid Billquist when he realized she was hit, and also called 911.

The shooting took place after sundown when Jadlowski should not have been hunting.

Jadlowski faces a two-count indictment of second-degree manslaughter and hunting after hours. The charges carry a potential prison sentence of five to 15 years if he is found guilty.
