ASHVILLE – The Ashville Free Library is thanking members of the community today as more than $1,000 was donated during the past 24 hours to help offset money that was lost during a recent theft.
According to the library’s director Tabetha Butler, the annual book sale took place this past weekend. However, at some point someone made off with nearly $800 from the book sale’s cash box – leaving the library short on funding to purchase needed materials for the rest of the year.
However, after posting the story online and starting a GoFundMe page, the library has already recouped its losses, with more than $1000 being donated by various residents.
