According the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s office, 58 year-old James Gatto of Bemus-Ellery Rd. was charged with unlawful growing and possession of marijuana. The specific amount wasn’t listed, but officers say the total amount that was grown met the threshold for a felony charge.
Gatto was issued an appearance ticket and will appear in Ellery Town Court at a later date.
The Jamestown Post-Journal reports that Gatto is also a member of the Jamestown Fire Department and has been placed on suspended leave following the arrest.
