CHERRY CREEK – A Brocton man was flown to an Erie Hospital after he was run over by a snowmobile Thursday afternoon.
Chautauqua County Sheriff deputies say 44 year-old James Karalus was riding his snowmobile on a trail near Thorton Rd. in the town of Cherry Creek at about 4:15 p.m. Thursday when he lost control due to deep snow and fell off. A second snowmobile, operated by 52 year old Gregory Irish, was following close behind and ran over Karalus.
Karalus was treated at the scene by local fire department members, and Starflight transported him to Hamot Medical Center in Erie for further treatment.
