JAMESTOWN – There’s more details being released about a new business moving into the former Quality Markets supermarket on Fluvanna Avenue in Jamestown.

The Jamestown Post-Journal is reporting that the light-manufacturing business is named New Flyer, and is based in Winnipeg, Canada. New Flyer is a heavy-duty transit bus manufacturer founded in 1930.

newflyerNew Flyer plans to hire at least 12 employees to start at the Jamestown facility, with plans to have 40-50 workers once their manufacturing operation is up and running.

New Flyer made an agreement to move into the former Quality location after it was purchased by Shults Real Estate LLC. Shults said the cost to renovate the location would be $1.6 million, with the Chautauqua County IDA providing a $500,000 low-interest, 20-year loan for the project.

Anyone interested in seeking employment at New Flyer should contact Chautauqua Works or visit the employment section of the New Flyer website.
