City Attorney Possible Candidate as Second Full-Time City Court Judge

March 31, 2014 By WRFA Radio 1 Comment

JAMESTOWN – Jamestown’s current city attorney could be leaving her post to serve as the city’s second full-time judge.

WRFA has learned from a source that wishes to remain anonymous that the Marilyn Fiore-Lehman, who currently serves as Corporation Counsel for Jamestown, is being considered to be the second full-time judge for the city.

Jamestown already has one full-time judge in John LaMancuso, local attorney George Panebianco serving as the city’s part-time judge. However, the Jamestown Post-Journal is reporting on Monday that Panebianco will not be accepting the position of the new full-time judge that was recently announced.  That opens to door for Fiore-Lehman to likely be tapped by Teresi as the second full-time judge.

Teresi will have to appoint a new judge to a 10-year term. According to the article in the Post-Journal, Teresi would only say he is still considering possible candidates. Anyone who is eventually appointed to serve as judge would have to be a resident of the city and also have practiced law in New York State.

If Fiore-Lehman is selected as the city judge, the city would then have to hire a new city attorney.
