Jamestown City Council has approved the hiring of five police officers.
Over the past year, the Jamestown Police Department has received approval to hire a total of seven officers, but have only hired five. Police Chief Tim Jackson said the department had six officers leave last year through retirement, transfer, resignation, or termination. He said there are currently 56 personnel in the department.
The five officers are included in the 2026 city budget.
