City Council to Review JCC Property Sale, Fluvanna Ave. Recommendations During Monday Night Work Session

August 20, 2018 By WRFA Radio Leave a Comment

JAMESTOWN – The Jamestown City Council will be holding a work session Monday night at city hall. The regular work session for the full council will take place at 7:30 p.m. in the mayor’s conference room, fourth floor of city hall.

No voting takes place at the work session. Instead, city officials review and discuss matters that will be voted on later in the month.

Among the items to be discussed will be Jamestown Community College’s proposed sale of a 50-acre piece of property on Curtis Street that includes a barn and residence which JCC has determined is no longer needed to be owned by the college. The sale price would be no less than $285,000. In order for the college to sell the property, the city of Jamestown – along with the Legislatures from both Chautauqua and Cattaragus Counties – must give permission before the property can go on the market.

The matter will be discussed in the finance committee meeting at 7:15 p.m. before going to the full council for discussion.

Also Monday night the Public Works Committee’s agenda includes a review of recommendations on Fluvanna Avenue from the New York State Department of Transportation, though no other specific details are included. The public works committee meeting is set for 7:00 p.m. and the matter will also go before the full council at 7:30 p.m.

All city council meetings are open to the public.
