County Corrections Officer Accused of Having Sexual Contact with Inmate

April 17, 2014 By WRFA Radio 1 Comment

MAYVILLE – A corrections officer at the county jail has been arrested after an investigation revealed he allegedly had sexual contact with a female inmate.

Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Department corrections officer Jeffrey Swan was suspended from his job in February, following an investigation by the County Sheriff’s Office and the District Attorney’s Office. Shortly afterward, he handed in his resignation. Last week, a grand jury indicted him on charges of third degree criminal sex act – a Class E felony.

According to a report in today’s Jamestown Post-Journal, Chautauqua County DA David Foley indicated that the sexual contact allegedly occurred between January and February of this year. The female inmate was a federal inmate and was transferred to another facility.

A pre-trial conference is scheduled for June 16.

  1. Victim No. 32 says

    July 16, 2025 at 6:26 pm

That’s a pretty shitty prosecutor who didn’t bother to find out if there were other victims and struck “a deal” for probation only so this obvious sexual predator who abused his position of authority is free to strike again. Law enforcement protecting law enforcement. This county got off cheap, too. I hope every other victim of this creep files a lawsuit.
