MAYVILLE – The region’s two candidates for congress will be squaring off in a debate Tuesday night, Nov. 1 in Mayville.

The Chautauqua League of Women Voters and The American Association of University Women of Jamestown are co-hosting a debate between Congressman Tom Reed (R-Corning, NY 23) and challenger U.S. Navy Captain John Plumb (D-Lakewood).

The debate will take place at Chautauqua Lake School, beginning at 7 p.m. It will be the second and final debate that is open to the public between the two candidates for Congress in New York’s 23rd district.

  • WATCH THE WETM DEBATE FROM FRIDAY, OCT. 28

Plumb, a Randolph, NY native who’s served in the U.S. Navy and the U.S. Department of Defense, is challenging Reed for the state’s 23rd congressional district, which covers much of the southern tier, from Chautauqua County east to Tompkins County.

WRFA will broadcast the debate during our upcoming Community Matters program (Thursday, 5 p.m.).
