DOT to Host Public Information Meeting on Proposed Passing Lane Project on Route 60

September 11, 2019 By WRFA Radio Leave a Comment

Open House Set for Tuesday, September 17 at 4 p.m. at Cassadaga Valley High School

The New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) will host a public information meeting on Tuesday, September 17 from 4 to 6 p.m. about a proposed paving project scheduled to begin next spring on NY Route 60 in the towns of Charlotte, Gerry and Stockton, and villages of Cassadaga and Sinclairville, Chautauqua County.

The informal, open house meeting will be held in the multi-purpose room at Cassadaga Valley High School, located at 5935 Route 60 in the village of Sinclairville.  The session will feature displays about the project and an opportunity to discuss it with NYSDOT representatives, who will be available to receive comments and answer individual questions.  No formal presentation will be made.

The purpose of the project is to widen approximately one-half mile of Route 60 in both the northbound and southbound directions between Gerry and Sinclairville, for the purpose of adding passing lanes.  The project will also extend the service life of the pavement.  Approximately six miles of NY Route 60 will be milled and resurfaced with a new top layer of asphalt.

Maintenance paving work keeps New York’s highways in a state of good repair, and this investment delays the need for costly, in-depth repairs in the future. The repair and modernization of our state’s transportation infrastructure enhances safety and helps ensure that state and local communities remain economically competitive.

The project will also replace all signing on NY Route 60 within the project limits, and is scheduled for completion in fall 2021.

For further information, or to request a sign language interpreter or assistive listening system, please contact Sanjyot Vaidya, assistant regional design engineer, at (716) 847-3214, or write to the New York State Department of Transportation, 100 Seneca Street, Buffalo, New York 14203, and reference Project Identification Number 5058.50.
