Head-On Auto Accident on Route 62 Claims Life of Warren Man

Chautauqua County SheriffKIANTONE, NY – The Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office has released the name of the person who died as a result of a head-on collision Tuesday morning on Route 62 in the town of Kiantone.

According to a release from the sheriff’s office, 57 year-old Joseph F. Guiffre III of Warren, Pa. died following the two vehicle accident, which took place at about 7:45 a.m. Investigators say Guiffre was traveling south when his vehicle went off the road and struck a guide rail on the west side of the roadway, and then went into the northbound lane of traffic and struck a vehicle being driven by 50 year-old Elise M. Lund.

Emergency crews responded and pronounced Guiffre deceased at the scene. Lund was transported to WCA Hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

A portion of Route 62 was closed down for about 2.5 hours while the scene was cleaned up. The investigation is continuing.

Kiantone FD, Frewsburg FD,Alstar,County Fire Police, Town of Carroll Police, and Pennsylvania State Police all assisted at the scene.
