November 23, 2015 By WRFA Radio Leave a Comment

statepoliceARKWRIGHT – Shotgun season for deer hunting is now underway, and at least one injury was reported over the weekend after one hunter shot another in Chautauqua County.

State police in Fredonia say the accidental shooting took place at about 8:20 in the morning Saturday in the town of Arkwright near Meadows Rd. Police say an unidentified 17 year old hunter shot at a doe with a .12 gauge shotgun and struck another hunter, 33 year old Joseph McAndrews of Buffalo, in the left leg.

McAndrews was airlifted to Erie County Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

The name of the 17 year old hunter was not released and investigation is still pending.
