Investigators Rule Thursday Morning Fire as Arson

November 2, 2018 By WRFA Leave a Comment

JAMESTOWN – Fire investigators say a fire at a home on E. Fifth Street that broke out earlier Thursday morning was the result of an arson.

According to the Post-Journal, Deputy Fire Chief Chet Harvey confirmed that the blaze at 418 E. Fifth St. was intentionally set.

City fire crews arrived around 5:15 a.m. Thursday and found fire inside the property, which housed several apartments. A portion of the roof collapsed shortly after firefighters arrived, prompting a defensive attack. No injuries were reported.

No one was living at the residence at the time of the fire and no utilities were connected.

The property was quickly deemed unsafe and a demolition was ordered by city officials.
