Jamestown Woman Arrested on Drug Charges, Resisting Arrest Following Traffic Stop for Texting While Driving

JAMESTOWN – A Jamestown woman has been arrested after she allegedly attempted flee from officers during a traffic stop.

Jamestown Police  say the incident took place at about 5:20 p.m. Tuesday near the intersection of Foote Ave. and 2^nd Street when they pulled over 30 year-old Celeste Carr for driving while texting. During the stop police learned that Carr had a suspended license and a warrant out for her arrest. When officers ordered Carr to get out of the vehicle, she instead attempted to drive away. However, officers were able to gain access to the interior of the vehicle and put on the emergency brake before it could enter the intersection.

Once Carr was apprehended police searched the vehicle and found a large quantity of crystal meth, a digital scale, and other drug paraphernalia.

Carr was arrested and charged with several drug-related charges, along with 1^st degree reckless endangerment, resisting arrest, and obstructing governmental administration. She was sent to the city jail to await arraignment.
