More Road Construction Planned for South Main Street, Beginning Monday Aug. 24

The area of South Main Street in Brooklyn Square will be repaved later this month as part of the updated City of Jamestown 2020 street construction season.

JAMESTOWN – The Jamestown Department of Public Works has announced additions the street repair schedule for this construction season, thanks to an increase in funding through the State Consolidated Local Street and Highway Improvement Program.

Among the new projects added to this year’s road construction slate is a mill and overlay of South Main Street, from the Arterial to the Main Street Bridge.  That project is tentatively scheduled to start on Monday, Aug. 24 with delays and detours expected in that area.

Other Mill and Overlay projects scheduled to start Aug. 24 include:

  • Delaware Avenue from Summit Avenue to Newland Avenue;
  • Prather Avenue from the Arterial to Main Street;
  • and Crescent Street from 2nd Street to Bishop Street.

In addition, Curb and Brick Improvements are scheduled for Ellicott Avenue from Pullman Street To King Street. and Curb Improvements for Andrews Avenue from Harding Avenue to 3rd Street.

    Awesome , God bless the people involved in this new projects..
    such a great decision. . It has destroy our car to the max.no traffic lights, no stop signs n,signs at all .
