FREDONIA – The Chautauqua County Health Department has lifted a boil water advisory for the village of Fredonia. The announcement came yesterday afternoon, meaning it is now safe to use the water for drinking, cooking, and all other normal uses. Residents are also no longer required to conserve water.
The Village of Fredonia Water treatment plant was back into normal operations on Friday night. Water samples from both Saturday and Sunday were tested and confirmed that no harmful bacteria are present in the Village Water System. To ensure that all water throughout the distribution system meets state standards, Village staff flushed water mains on Monday morning, which may have caused roily water. As a result, customers should flush their plumbing systems by running faucets, tubs and other water fixtures to ensure clear, safe water.
