MAYVILLE – The sound of bagpipes will rise from Mayville’s Lakeside Park this weekend as the 96th Highlanders present the seventh annual Jamestown Regional Celtic Festival and Gathering of the Clans. The event opens with a kickoff party from 6 to 10 p.m. today and continues from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday.
In all, there will be eight bagpipe bands, seven Celtic music groups, ethnic foods, a beer and wine garden, and Scottish heavy athletes in competition. Admission tonight is free. Tickets Saturday are $8, $6 for seniors and children 12 and under free. For information, visit www.96thhighlanders.com.
