MORNING NEWS: Edwards Announces New Veterans Service Agency Director

August 27, 2012 By WRFA Leave a Comment

MAYVILLE – Chautauqua County Executive Greg Edwards announced Friday the appointment of Doug Diers as the new Veterans Service Agency Director effective September 4.

Diers is a retired Master Sergeant with the United States Air Force, with over 20 years in active duty including serving as a Master Instructor for the United States Air Force. He has also served as a Vice Commander of VFW Post 6731 and a County VFW Service Officer Representative for Southern Mississippi. Diers is leaving his position as a Production Supervisor at Carriage House Companies Inc. to become the County’s Veterans Service Agency Director. He currently is a resident of Cassadaga.

The selection was made through the help of a bi-partisan committee of veterans, who selected their top four candidates for Edwards to interview. Members of the bi-partisan committee included: Legislator Tom DeJoe, Legislator Robert Stewart, and Veteran William Servis.
