MORNING NEWS: Red Cross Offers Help to Tornado Victims in Oklahoma

May 22, 2013 By WRFA Radio Leave a Comment

JAMESTOWN – The American Red Cross is working around the clock to help people in Oklahoma after Monday’s devastating tornadoes. Disaster officials and volunteers are already on hand providing victims with shelters, food, water and supplies with more volunteers, supplies and equipment expected today and later this week. Those interested in donating to Tornado victims in Oklahoma can call 1-800-REDCROSS or text 90999 to make a $10 donation.

The Red Cross is also reminding American that they should always be as prepared as possible for potential disasters and other emergencies. Residents are reminded that they should know about all the potential disasters that may take place in their area. They should also have a disaster survival kit by filling a backpack with supplies, including a three-day supply of water and nonperishable foods. A disaster plan should also be in place, including what to do if separated and where to meet.

For a full list of how to be prepared in the event of a disaster, visit www.redcross.org.
