RIPLEY – A Ripley man remains hospitalized this morning after being involved in a motorcycle accident. Chautauqua County Sheriff Deputies say 24 year-old David Baum was traveling south on Route 76 in the town of Ripley shortly after midnight Thursday. Deputies say Baum was traveling at a very high rate of speed and lost control on a curve, overturning his motorcycle and striking a guardrail. Baum was seriously injured and treated by Ripley and Westfield Fire and EMS personnel at the scene. He was the flown to UPMC Hamot in Erie, PA. Deputies secured a blood test from Baum at the hospital and charges are expected at a later date. As of Thursday afternoon, Baum remained hospitalized and was listed in critical condition.
