May 15, 2015 By WRFA Radio 1 Comment

Chautauqua County SheriffMAYVILLE – The Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office reported Friday that it is conducting a search of Chautauqua Lake for a missing fisherman identified as 64 year-old David Spink of Varysburg, New York.

Investigators say Spink’s truck and empty boat trailer were recovered at the Prendergast Point Public Boat Launch on Thursday. His unoccupied boat was discovered on shore at Long Point State Park on Thursday evening.

Spink was last seen leaving Camp Prendergast around 7 p.m. on Wednesday, May 13, 2015 to spend the night fishing. He had planned to launch at Prendergast Point and pick up a friend near Magnolia, but never showed up.  Spink was reported missing the following day by concerned family members who were unable to contact him.

The Sheriff’s Office is continuing an aerial and waterborne search of the north basin of Chautauqua Lake, assisted by the Bemus Point Fire Department and the New York State Police.

Anyone with information related to Mr. Spink’s disappearance is asked to contact the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office at 753-2131.
