Sherman Faces Animal Cruelty Charges After Hitting Dog with Vehicle

November 9, 2015 By WRFA Radio 3 Comments

Chautauqua County SheriffSHERMAN, NY – A Sherman man is facing animal cruelty related charges after he allegedly hit a dog on purpose with his vehicle.

The Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office says 66 year-old Richard Frey was traveling down an undisclosed road in Sherman at about 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 1, when he allegedly ran into and killed a dog with his vehicle. After hitting the dog Frey left the scene. After a short investigation it was found that Frey had seen the dog in front of his car and continued to travel forward into the dog.

Frey was arrested and charged with Agriculture and Markets law overdriving, torturing, injuring animals. He was issued an appearance ticket and will appear in the Town of Sherman Court on a later date.

This guy needs the maximum sentence. This type of cruelty does not stop with cruelty to animals. He is a menace to society.

It was an official media release sent out by the Chautauqua County sheriff’s office. We can not contact every person who is arrested and charged with a crime to get their side of the story. That is what the court system is for. Our role is to inform the public if an arrest has been made and the details behind why the arrest took place, as provided by law enforcement. However, if Mr. Frey wishes to contact us, in writing, and share his details, we will post an addendum to this story. He can use the contact prompt at the upper right of our website.

Also, you can find the media release sent by CCSO here:
