BROCTON – Three people have been arrested following a methamphetamine investigation in Brocton.

The Chautauqua County Sheriff’s office officers investigated an apartment at 150 West Main St. in the village after noxious fumes were reported by other residents in the building, who said the fumes were causing breathing problems.

Sheriff deputies arrived on the scene and an investigation uncovered multiple suspicious items inside the apartment and police concluded the residents were operating a meth lab. A further investigation uncovered quantities of meth produced with the “one pot” style of production, which officers say is exceedingly toxic.

Police immediately arrested 25 year-old Ashley Muscato – who lived in the apartment, along with 24 year-old Neale Brown and 21 year-old Ashley Guest, both from Westfield.

They each face charges of third-degree unlawful manufacturing of methamphetamine, unlawful disposal of methamphetamine laboratory material, seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of marijuana. Each was jailed following arraignment on $30,000 cash bail.

Specialists were called to the scene to remove the toxic chemicals from the apartment, at what time those specialists located 10 different labs in the apartment, and another thrown out just outside the apartment.
