Two Die in Separate Automobile Crashes Wednesday in North Harmony

September 12, 2019 By WRFA Radio Leave a Comment

NORTH HARMONY – The Chautauqua County Sheriff’s office says two separate automobile crashes on Wednesday have resulted in two people losing their lives.

Both accidents occurred in the Town of North Harmony – one on Interstate 86 and the other on Route 394.

Sheriff deputies say the first two-vehicle crash occurred just after 4 a.m. in the eastbound lane of I-86. Rescue crews arrived to find one of the vehicles involved on its roof. The driver of the vehicle, identified as 66-year-old Tommy Hyde of Warsaw, NY, was pronounced dead at the scene. A portion of the interstate was closed as crews worked at the scene.

A second crash took place just after 10 a.m. Wednesday on Route 394, involving a tractor-trailer cab and a pickup truck. The Sheriff’s Office says the pickup truck failed to stop at a stop sign at Magnolia-Stedman Road and struck a tractor trailer cab traveling on Route 394. The cab ended up rolling onto its roof. The driver of the vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene and their name has not yet been released. Meanwhile, the driver of the pickup was taken to Westfield Memorial Hospital for treatment of unknown injuries.

Both crashes remain under investigation.
