Two Jamestown Men Still Missing After Separate Kyaking Incidents

May 22, 2012 By WRFA Radio Leave a Comment

Rescue Crews in Cattaraugus County and Warren County are continuing their searches for two Jamestown men who recently went missing during separate kayaking incidents along the Allegheny Reservoir and River.

According to today’s Jamestown Post-Journal, 32 year-old Jacob Maynard of Jamestown was kayaking Saturday near Starbrick in Warren County, Pennsylvania when his canoe capsized. Rescue workers responded to the scene about 45 minutes after the 911 came in, but lacked good information. They then spent much of the weekend searching unsuccessfully for Maynard. Conewango Township Police had no further information on the rescue/recovery effort as of Monday afternoon.

Meanwhile, Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office officials are searching for a 22-year-old Jamestown man who went missing while kayaking at 3:30 p.m. Sunday in the Allegheny Reservoir of the Allegany National Forest. A crew was in Onoville on Monday along with the Seneca Nation’s rescue boat to search for the 22-year-old man. The kayaker’s name has not been released. Sheriff’s department officials say that the man was with a fellow kayaker when he went missing.
