MARGATE, FLORIDA – Police in Florida are investigating the disappearance of a man with local ties to the Jamestown area.
Broward County Sheriff deputies say 45-year-old William “Billy” Manno has been missing since leaving his home early in the morning of May 17. He was reported missing on May 23, and investigators have since recovered his vehicle – a 2001 Dodge Caravan that was found abandoned around 4 p.m. Saturday in Parkland, Fla. The vehicle showed no signs of foul play, and Manno’s clothes, identification and keys were inside. A surveillance camera has also shown Manno withdrawing cash from an ATM machine in Hallandale Beach, Fla. on May 19.
Manno is a native of Jamestown, graduating from Jamestown High School in 1986. Shortly after graduating he moved away from the area.
According to one news source, he had recently been separated from his wife and 13-year-old daughter because of a gambling problem. His last contact with his family was when he left the home of a cousin with whom he’d been staying.
Anyone who knows Manno’s whereabouts can contact the Broward County Sheriff’s office at (954) 321-4268.
