Authorities Search for Inmate Who Escaped During Court Appearance

Jacob Raynor

CHARLOTTE – An inmate from the Chautauqua County jail is on the loose after making the slip from a Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Deputy during a court appearance in the town of Charlotte.

The Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office says 34 year-old Jacob Raynor was taken from the county jail to the Town of Charlotte Court late Tuesday morning to be arraigned for a felony charge. At approximately 11:30 a.m., he escaped from custody.  The Sheriff’s office said Raynor was handcuffed at the time of his escape, but didn’t offer further details on how he managed to flee the area.

He is described as a white male, 6’0″ and 170 lbs. He was wearing a black shirt and black hat. Officials say he is unarmed and not considered dangerous, but Local schools were notified and placed on emergency LOCKOUT as a precaution.

The public is asked to call 911 with any information about Raynor, including his whereabouts.
