BUSTI – A Busti man is being held in Chautauqua County Jail on charges related to sexually abusing a child.
Lakewood-Busti police say 51 year old Donald Schrader Jr. was charged Monday with predatory sexual assault against a child, first-degree course of sexual conduct, first-degree criminal sexual act and endangering the welfare of a child. Police say the charges were placed after an investigation stemming from a complaint filed on March 13 involving an ongoing sexual offenses allegedly being committed by Schrader in the town of Busti against a 12-year-old child. Police say the investigation found several such incidents took place over a 10 to 12 month period and the victim was someone that Schrader knew.
The Chautauqua County District Attorney secured an indictment against Schrader from a grand jury on May 16 and Schrader voluntarily turned himself into police Monday with bail being set at $125,000 cash. If convicted on all charges, he could face 25 years to life in prison. A pre-motion conference is scheduled for June 11.
