City Resident to Challenge Teresi in November General Election

July 27, 2015 By WRFA Radio 2 Comments

vote_logo ElectionJAMESTOWN – Jamestown resident and retired JCC professor David George tells WRFA he will be running for Mayor against Jamestown Mayor Sam Teresi.

George tells WRFA he is in the process of circulating a petition to establish an independent party – known as the Patriots Party – where his name will appear on the November ballot. He has until mid August to collect 300+ signatures to qualify his candidacy for the ballot. He said he is working with both the board of elections as well as a local attorney to ensure he follows proper procedure.

Earlier this month it was announced that mayor Sam Teresi would be running unopposed in the general election. That’s because none of the current political parties were able to field a candidate prior to the July 8 deadline. However, under state election law, any candidate has until Aug. 8 to circulate a petition and have his or her name appear on the ballot as an independent candidate.

WRFA will be interviewing George later this week to learn more about why he’s running for mayor. That interview will be provided online and will also air during our Aug. 6 Community Matters program.

Sure wish I could vote for David George T; he was an AWESOME political science professor at JCC and would be a GREAT mayor!! I was born in WCA (1947) and raised in Jamestown area, graduated from JHS and JCC, now live away. But Dave George would be the BEST.
