Investigation Continues into Death of Clymer Schools Superintendent

CLYMER – The Buffalo News is reporting this morning that investigators probing the death of the superintendent of Clymer Central School say they have received “numerous leads” into the incident – but are still seeking help from the public. The homicide of 51 year old Keith Reed, Jr. was first reported on Monday and has since created both shocked and disbelief in the community.

Reed – a father of three who became superintendent of the Clymer Central School District last year – was last seen late Friday afternoon or evening and was reported missing Sunday. He was found dead Monday outside his Clymer home. Authorities have not said exactly when he may have died, only that he was shot “multiple times.”

Reed began his career in education in 1984. He became principal for Sherburne-Earlville Central School District in Sherburne, N.Y. in 2005. He came to the Clymer district in 2011. Chautauqua County Sheriff Joe Gerace will also not publicly speculate on the motive for the shooting.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday the United Congregational Methodist Church in Salamanca.
