JAMESTOWN – An actor and comedian who’s been involved in Show business for over three decades is coming to Jamestown this October. Comedian Martin Short has been announced as the featured performer for the Lucy Town Half Marathon and 5K event, taking place Columbus Day weekend in Downtown Jamestown.

According to a release sent out Tuesday afternoon by the Lucy Cesi Center for Comedy, Short will take his critically-acclaimed act to the stage of the Reg Lenna Civic Center Oct. 12 at 7:30 p.m.

Short is widely known for his work in comedy, including Second City Television and Saturday Night Live, where he is both a former-cast member and host. He’s starred in such comedy films as Three Amigos, Inner Space and Father of the Bride and has created several noteworthy characters, including Jiminy Glick and Ed Grimley.

An exclusive pre-sale window is available to registered race participants from now until June 31 by visiting LucyRace.com or calling the Lucy Desi Center for Comedy at (716)484-0800. Tickets for the event will go on sale July 1.

In February, the Lucy Desi Center for Comedy, along with Chautauqua Striders and the Jamestown Savings Bank Arena announced they would be sponsoring the first ever half marathon in Jamestown. In addition to the half-marathon, 5K Race and Short’s appearance, a sports expo is also in the planning stages for the Ice Arena.
