One of the top officials for the United Way of Southern Chautauqua County for over 20 years is now taking his expertise with the organization to the state level. Former local United Way Executive Director Michael Moots – who currently serves as Executive Director of the Jamestown Community College Foundation – was recently elected to the Board of Directors of United Way of New York State.

United Way of New York State (UWNYS) is a statewide membership organization dedicated to strengthening the capacity of local United Ways to be leaders in achieving results that improve the lives of all New Yorkers.

Moots brings 25 years of United Way experience to the state Board. He served as Executive Director of United Way of Southern Chautauqua County from 1990 to 2011. During that time he also Chaired the state agency’s Professional Advisory Committee and served on the UWNYS Board of Directors for six years.

Moots’ United Way career began in Youngstown, Ohio. He and his wife Cathy reside in Lakewood.
