ST. MARY PARISH, JAMAICA – A long-time missionary and native of Randolph has been found murdered in Jamaica.

Jamaican police are reporting that two U. S. missionaries were found slain in a rural area of the Caribbean island. Authorities have identified the two men as 53 year-old Harold Nichols and  48 year-old Randy Hentzel. Their battered bodies were found in bushes in separate areas of St. Mary Parish.

Nichols was a native of East Randolph and had been living in Jamaica for roughly 10 years. Hentzel was from Donnellson, Iowa.

Both missionaries lived and worked in Jamaica for a Pennsylvania-based religious organization called Teams for Medical Missions.

The area where their bodies were found has long struggled with high rates of violent crime. There have been no arrests, and investigators made no comment about a possible motive.
