WASHINGTON – Congressman Tom Reed (R-Corning) continued to champion U.S. manufacturing jobs by offering a resolution in the House to recognize Oct. 7 as National Manufacturing Day.

Reed introduced the resolution on Thursday, which recognizes October 7 as National Manufacturing Day in Congress. According to Reed’s office, the 23rd congressional district has almost 44,000 people who are employed in the manufacturing field.

Nationally, 9 percent or 12.33 million workers are in the employed in this field, which contributes over 2.17 trillion to the U.S. economy annually.

Big deal. This does nothing to help anyone but get Reed’s name in the news. It’s about as important as renaming a post office. He should do something real to help working people, but that will never happen.

Really, how many more times will Rep Tom Reed try to steal other’s work and call it his own? Either Reed doesn’t know the National calendar’s pre-set dates, or he believes no other Americans do – This has been set up since 2011.

“While we were unable to find the creator of National Manufacturing Day, it was first observed in 2011. A Presidential Proclamation was signed by Barack Obama in 2014.”
